Field Talk
A free, online data protection and privacy conference
17–19 November 2026
Vendor-free. Practitioner-led. Your voice matters.
Why Field Talk?
The data protection/GRC/AIG conference circuit has a problem. Too many of the larger events are bigtech showcases dressed up as knowledge sharing. Many speakers are selected for their sponsor relationships, not their practitioner experience. The same panels, the same pitches, the same formats - year after year.
Field Talk is the counter-programme.
What it is
A free, online conference for data protection, privacy, GRC and AIG practitioners - the people doing the actual work. Three half-days across three time zones, designed so you can attend from wherever you are without losing your whole week.
- 17 November — Europe / MEA
- 18 November — Americas / Europe
- 19 November — APAC / Europe
The conference programme is already building out here.
What makes it different
- No sponsored sessions. No vendor swag. No bigtech bacon Every talk is selected on merit. No company pays to be here.
- European infrastructure, no tracking. This site is self-hosted on European servers. No cookies, no tracking, no third-party scripts, no CDN. Your visit is your business.
- Practitioner-led. Speakers are people who have built, fixed, and run data protection programmes - often on shoe-string budgets.
- Your voice matters. We prioritise first-time speakers and underrepresented voices. If you have a story from the field, we want to hear it.
- Open access. Streams are free to watch. Recordings stay free. No paywall, no membership fee.
The themes
- AI governance in practice - beyond the frameworks, what is actually working?
- GDPR realities - eight years in, what have we learned?
- Security and infrastructure — the operational side that rarely gets conference airtime
Field Talk is an initiative of Purpose & Means, a data protection and GRC consultancy based in Copenhagen.
Our manifesto
We believe conferences should serve practitioners, not sponsors.
We believe the best speakers are the ones doing the work, not selling the tools.
We believe first-time voices matter more than familiar faces.
We believe data protection deserves honest conversation, not polished marketing.
We believe access should be free and open to everyone, everywhere.
We believe in showing up, speaking up, and sharing what we have learned.
We believe the platform should practise what the profession preaches.
